GILLMAN AND CO-ANGLER JORDAN WIN CABELA’S NATIONAL WALLEYE TOUR EVENT ON LAKE ERIE

Pro-angler John Gillman, of Freeland, Mich., and co-angler Joe Jordan, of Hampton, Ill., brought 51.70 pounds of walleye to the scales to win the Cabela’s National Walleye Tour (NWT) event on Lake Erie at Port Clinton, Ohio. Overall, the NWT event paid out over $350,000 in total winnings to anglers.

The event, which was set for Friday and Saturday June 14-15, was postponed by one day due to strong winds and high waves. The action began Saturday with anglers weighing huge sacks of fish. With the return of the winds and waves on Sunday, Tournament Director Anthony Wright made the decision to cancel the final day’s fishing.

Senate Advances Legislation Supporting Expanded Public Access on Cape Hatteras

Today, the U.S. Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources unanimously advanced a bill that opens the door to reexamining the onerous beach access closures at Cape Hatteras National Seashore Recreational Area in North Carolina. While the American Sportfishing Association (ASA) recognizes the work and effort that the bill’s sponsors put into this measure and believes that the committee’s action is a step in the right direction; ASA remains concerned that the measure falls short of providing immediate relief to the businesses and individuals negatively impacted by the National Park Service’s access restrictions.

North American Fishing Club is proud to continue its sponsorship of National Hunting and Fishing Day scheduled for September 28, 2013.
